What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage, allow a website to keep information in the browser in the same way. They are commonly used to keep people signed in, to remember preferences and, on many websites, to measure and track behaviour across pages and across sites.

This notice explains which of these technologies bestdpo.org actually uses. It is written to describe what the website does, not what it might do in future.

Which cookies we use

We do not set any cookies on visitors’ devices. Browsing this website — reading pages, opening programme descriptions, reading articles or sending an enquiry through our form — does not place a single cookie in your browser.

The website also loads no content from third parties. There are no analytics services, no advertising or social media pixels, no embedded videos, maps or fonts served from external domains. Every file that makes up a page is served from bestdpo.org itself, so no third party learns that you visited us.

Two technical exceptions exist, and neither is used to recognise or track you

• Session storage entry wpEmojiSettingsSupports — written by the website software to record whether your browser can display emoji characters without substitute images. It contains no personal data, is not sent to our server and is erased when you close the browser tab.
• Sign-in cookies for our own staff — when a member of the BestDPO team signs in to the administration area to publish or edit content, the website sets cookies that keep that session open and remember interface settings. These are set only after a successful sign-in and never for visitors.

Because we set no cookies and use no tracking technologies that require consent, this website does not show a cookie banner. If that changes, we will update this notice and ask for your consent before any such technology is used.

How to manage cookies

Since we place no cookies on your device, there is nothing here for you to refuse, switch off or delete.

You can still control cookies and site data generally through your browser settings, where you can view what individual websites have stored, delete it and block future storage. The options are usually found under “Privacy”, “Cookies and site data” or a similarly named section. Blocking storage for bestdpo.org will not affect how the website works for you.

If you follow a link from our website to an external website, that website’s own cookie practices apply. We have no control over them and they are not covered by this notice.
